The Kardashians were left shaken Friday when reality appeared to become all too real for the famous family after a SWAT team stormed through their Los Angeles home.

A heavily armed SWAT team of 15 and three helicopters responded to a call claiming shots had been fired from the Kardashian mansion, however it later turned out that the reality TV star family was just the latest victim of a "swatting" prank which appears to be a growing trend targeting various Hollywood celebrities in recent months. Kim, who is currently in Africa for a number of appearances, immediately responded to the bizarre prank, according to the New York Daily News.

"Just got a call from my mom telling me about this prank call that someone was shot in their home & 15 swat team & 3 helicopters showed up!" Kim tweeted.

She later added, "These prank calls are not funny! People can get arrested for this! I hope they find out who is behind this. It's dangerous & not a joke!"

The pregnant reality star, 32, is currently in the Ivory Coast where she reportedly hosted an event for Sim Card company Ma Life on Saturday afternoon followed by a private event in the evening, according to All Africa.

Other Kardashian family members including Kim's sister Kendal Jenner, also tweeted about the swatting prank, which has previously targeted actors Tom Cruise, Ashton Kutcher, pop singer Justin Bieber and "X Factor" producer Simon Cowell.

"I love it when 8 police officers show up at my door and 10 cop cars are outside my house. just another casual Friday evening at the Jenner household. #nbd #EveryonesOk" Kendall tweeted.

In recent weeks a 12-year-old boy was arrested by Los Angeles police inc connection to similar the incidents which occurred at the homes of Kutcher, 35, and Bieber, 19.
