Michelle backed her husband up, stating that she monitors her 13 and 10-year-old daughters’ choices in television programs and worried that they may get the wrong message from the Kardashian show.

“I sort of feel like if we’re talking about it, and I’m more concerned with how they take it in,” Mrs. Obama said. “What did you learn when you watched that? And if they’re learning the right lessons, like, that was crazy, then I’m like, ‘OK.”

The Kardashians reportedly got wind of the first lady’s statements, and said they were “surprised” according to TMZ. The publication reported that not only did the Kardashian family disagree with the first family, but they believed the children in the White House could learn about girls facing real situations and problems.

The Kardashians were also reportedly surprised by the Obama’s disapproval of their show after Khloe visited the White House as a guest of 2010 NBA championship winning husband, Lamar Odom.

The shock came as Obama personally told Khloe he thought Keeping Up with the Kardashians was a “great show” when he met Khloe at the White House when she was invited to celebrate the team's 2010 NBA Finals victory.

TMZ reported that Obama's “great show” comment and Michelle’s statements to iVillage has caused some confusion within the Kardashian clan.

Despite their preferences in television programming, Mrs. Obama said her children are normal girls who she is trying to keep that way.

"They're terrific girls, they're poised and they're kind and they're curious," Obama told iVillage. "And like any mother, I am just hoping that I don't mess them up."
