Kate Moss Poses for Controversial 2012 Pirelli Nude Calendar

Kate Moss and 11 other celebrities have posed for the controversial 2012 Pirelli nude calendar. The most recent release of the Milan-based tire company’s calendar, which is known for its contentious nude shots, was shot by 40-year-old Italian-born photographer and director Mario Sorrenti.

Sorrenti previously photographed Moss in her early career for the iconic Calvin Klein Obsession ads.

Sorrenti spent a week on the French island of Corsica with the 12 women for the controversial 2012 calendar: Kate Moss, Rinko Kikuchi, Milla Jovovich, Isabeli Fontana, Lara Stone, Joan Smalls, Margareth Made, Edita Vilkeviciute, Malgosia, Saskia de Brauw, Natasha Poly and Guinevere Van Seenus.

The photos in this upcoming year’s calendar are black and whites, and are not available for sale; they are given strangely as a “corporate gift” by Pirelli to VIP customers.

The divisive calendar, sometimes rebuked for its sexually explicit material, was first published annually in 1964, but then was discontinued for 10 years in 1974 in response to economic cutbacks due to a world recession caused by an oil shock. It has been published regularly since 1984 and has been photographed all over the world in such places as the Seychelles, the Bahamas, Brazil, Italy and Botswana.
