Katie Couric got engaged to John Molner earlier this month and has since revealed plans for a "tasteful" wedding.

The talk show host said "yes" when Molner proposed on the beach in East Hampton, New York over Labor Day weekend. Shortly after, Couric debuted a spectacular diamond engagement ring.

Even though she is in no hurry to walk down the aisle, the former "Today" show host is getting started on planning the wedding.

It will be the second marriage for Couric- she is the widow of Jay Monahan, who died in 1998 from colon cancer. Ever since his death, Couric has been singlehandedly raising their daughters Ellie, 21, and Carrie, 17.

Fortunately, Couric's daughters are comfortable with their mother remarrying, and even "think the world of John," according to Access Hollywood.

"I think they were a little [like], 'Wow,' because it's been the three of us for so long," Couric explained.

The "Katie" host first confirmed her romance with Molner, the head of mergers and acquisitions at Brown Brothers Harriman & Co., back in April 2012.

"They really think the world of John," she added of her daughters. "He loves them and so I think it's all good and I think it's going to be awhile. And I'm focused on Carrie right now and her senior year of high school."

Nevertheless, the 56-year-old journalist said her upcoming nuptials would be very low-key.

"It's not like I'm 22 and I'm going to plan a big thing with a big fluffy fancy dress," Couric rationalized. "I want to do something that feels right for us both and our situation."

Meanwhile, Couric's professional life has also seen new developments of late, including the possibility of a new job.

Last week, reports suggested that "Katie" is likely headed for cancelation this winter, and that Couric may be headed to "The View" as a replacement for Barbara Walters.

"Katie may ultimately replace Barbara when she retires," said a source at the New York Daily News.

Adding fuel to the rumors, "Katie" has failed to garner impressive ratings and canceling the show could leave Couric open to a new position.

"Execs are so concerned about publicly humiliating Katie by canceling her show in the middle of the second season that they want to put her on 'The View' this year to slide into Barbara's chair," the insider at the NY Daily News continued.

Neither Couric nor ABC have commented on the rumors.
