'Katsugeki/Touken Ranbu' Episode 13 Spoilers: First and Second Units Band Together to Protect History in Upcoming Finale

Can the Sword Warriors stop the culmination of the Time Retrograde Army's plans, or is history doomed for some drastic changes in the upcoming final episode of the Japanese anime series, "Katsugeki/Touken Ranbu."

The Time Retrograde Army's planned interference at the Battle of Hakodate is bound to cause a majorly significant change in Japanese history. According to Manga.Tokyo, if the enemies of time succeed in turning the tables in favor of the ex-Shogunate forces, the Meiji Restoration will not happen, thereby keeping Japan closed from the rest of the world.

The First and Second Units are about to form a hybrid team to battle the upcoming troops of the Time Retrograde Army, which will number to no less than a thousand, all armed and ready to alter history.

Moreover, Izuminokami Kanesada's quest to find closure for his one regret in life ended in the shocking discovery that his partner, Horikawa Kunihiro, has joined their former master's ranks and is now closely guarding Hijikata Toshizou. Their master's death is part of what makes up the current history of Japan, and if Horikawa does plan to change that by saving Hijikata's life, Izuminokami will be left with no choice by to take his partner down.

Will Izuminokami and Horikawa both make it to Ippongi Konmon to join the other Sword Warriors in their final battle against the Time Retrograde Army? Or will they be caught up in a battle all their own? Also, will Izuminokami ever find closure in the fact that his master has previously left him behind in the most important battle of Hijikata's life?

The preview shown for the final episode titled "Katsugeki" hints that Izuminokami may indeed make it to Ippongi Konmon. However, it is unclear whether Horikawa will be with him. Can he possibly put some good sense back in his partner's mind without having to turn to drastic measures?

"Katsugeki/Touken Ranbu" airs on Saturdays late night at 12:30 a.m. JST on Tokyo MX. Information on other broadcast schedules as well as online resources can be found on the series' official site.
