Katy Perry Squashes Lady Gaga Feud Rumors

Katy Perry tactfully answered questions surrounding a supposed feud between herself and fellow pop superstar Lady Gaga during an interview this week.

It comes as no surprise that comparisons would be drawn between Perry and Gaga since both singers have swept the pop music charts for the past few years. However, Perry clarified that she "supports Lady Gaga in everything she does."

"I do," the Grammy Award winning singer told a radio DJ at SAFM recently. "She is a fantastic performer and she takes a lot of artistic chances. It's always interesting to watch her, and sometimes [it] keeps me on my toes as a performer. It's nice to have that."

Furthermore, the "Roar" singer echoed Gaga's sentiments against rivalries.

"We both agree that we don't like to have that competitive nature and we don't encourage it from our fans," Perry added.

While Perry denied the competition with Gaga, one of her interviewers suggested that Perry had already bested Gaga since Perry's latest album Prism sold much more than Gaga's "ARTPOP. Nevertheless, Perry reiterated, "It's not a competition."

"I like her artistic choices, they're always very interesting to watch," the singer continued. "I actually really like that song 'Venus' that she put out. It's very Queen/ABBA."

Meanwhile, for her part, Gaga also denied a rivalry with Perry, but with much more zeal.

"I don't know what the f--- I have to do with Katy Perry," the singer told Billboard. "My music is so completely different and I couldn't be more different, really."

Gaga added, "I really don't fit in pop music in a way, but I came through it and I'd like to think I changed it in some way so you can feel like you don't have to fit into a mold."
