Katy Perry's Part of Me Bombs at Box Office: 'No One Cares' (VIDEO)

Katy Perry's movie has received critical feedback after a major box office bomb over the weekend.

Katy Perry's new documentary movie pulled in low numbers over the weekend in its box office debut. While some have been critical stating that no one cares about the pop star any longer, others have suggested the cause of Perry's dismal turn out may be due to bad booking. Perry's box office weekend landed near the same time as that of "The Amazing Spiderman."

Of course many were opposed to the recreation of yet another Spiderman movie. However, once the film hit the screen, its existence seemed justified. The film took first place in the box office, earning $140 million since its Tuesday debut. "Savages" came in second place, nowhere near the numbers of Spiderman, grossing $16.2 million. "Katy Perry: A Part of Me," came in a low third place grossing just over $7 million.

"Earth to Hollywood: no one cares about Katy beyond a handful of tween/teen girls. Not even Russell Brand anymore," Deadline's Nikki Finke wrote.

Of course while not many people were interested in having a piece of the pop-star, the review may be slightly unfair given Marvel's typical success at the box office. Marvel's last movie, "The Avengers" earned over $200 million in the box office during its opening weekend.

For the weekend alone "The Amazing Spiderman" earned over $65 million in the box office. The numbers are not far off from what "Captain America" earned around the same time last year, also at $65 million.

One apparent Perry fan defended the pop star by offering a number break down on Radar Online.

"Comparing Spiderman grosses to Katy Perry's demonstrates total ignorance," Ratbag stated. "S/man is on 4318 screens while Katy is in limited distribution on 2730. S/man has to recoup 2 1/2 x $258mil to breakeven. Katy only 2 1/2 x 12mil to breakeven."
