Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole's Album Release Date Shelved Over Summer Tour

Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole's joint album's release date will reportedly be delayed because of the latter's summer tour with Drake.

Rumor has it that an announcement will be released this week about the delay in the release of Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole's collaborative album. Although the exact reason for the postponed release date has not yet been confirmed, reports are pointing to J. Cole's tour with Drake as one of the reasons, according to The Bitbag.

Aside from J. Cole and Drake's summer tour, another reason for the delay might be the difficulty in merging the two rappers' different styles. While J. Cole's lyrics are more direct to the point, Lamar's pattern is a bit complicated, the report explains.

As of now, both Lamar and J. Cole have their hands full with their own solo projects, so adding a joint album to their load has made their schedules even more hectic. Plus, the summer tour 2016 has added more difficulty to the task.

Nevertheless, the two rapper's fans need not be discouraged because Top Dawg Entertainment President Dave Free said Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole still have the collaborative album in their minds.

Meanwhile, Lamar's sister Kayla Duckworth posted a Facebook status that sparked speculations that the album will be released on Feb. 16, the Lawyer Herald reports.

In the social media statement, she promoted her brother's album and reminded fans of her collaboration with J. Cole in the song "To Pimp a Butterfly." Still, there are no guarantees that her post contains the official release date for the joint album.

The collaborative album of Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole was expected to be released two months before Drake releases his "Views from the 6." As of now, there is still no confirmed release date for their album, so fans will have to keep posted.
