Kevin Durant Thanks Supporters for Prayers After Successful Surgery

Kevin Durant made sure to update supporters and thank them for their prayers after undergoing foot surgery Thursday.

Durant, the 26-year-old Oklahoma City Thunder forward,suffered from a broken bone at the base of his small toe known as a "Jones fracture," according to ESPN reports. On Thursday, the NBA's Most Valuable Player for the 2013-2014 season took to Twitter to update his fans.

"Successful surgery, thanks for all the prayers and concerns," Durant tweeted. "Headed back to OKC. Move em."

While Durant is expected to be out of commission for six to eight weeks, the Thunder released a statement to make it clear that he would be re-evaluated after the six week mark for an accurate timetable of his return.

"The Thunder, Durant and his representatives jointly decided for surgery to be performed by Dr. Robert Anderson with Thunder medical personnel present at the OrthoCarolina Foot and Ankle Clinic in Charlotte, N.C.," the team said in a press release Thursday afternoon. "Durant will be re-evaluated in six weeks, at which time a further update will be provided."

Durant has had his share of supporters in and around the NBA since his health issues became public.

Durant's teammate, OKC shooting guard Anthony Morrow, 29, took to Twitter to wish the injured forward well.

"Praying for a speedy recovery for my brother @KDTrey5, one of the toughest and most competitive guys I know #ThunderUP," Morrow wrote.

While Dwight Howard competes against Durant in the Western conference, the 28-year-old Houston Rockets center said he would pray for the injured star.

"I'll pray for him. I pray he doesn't have any other type of injury. I pray he has a speedy recovery," Howard told the Houston Chronicle. "I know the people in OKC and the fans are sad right now, but luckily he won't miss the remainder of the season... He's young, he has God on his side and we are all going to be praying for him."
