Instead of running an unfaithful ex-boyfriend over with her car, gospel singer Kierra Sheard said chose to use the painful experience to help her grow in God.

"Went to the store today and spotted him with another woman in the store. It stung a little; I wanted to cry but I didn't," Sheard wrote in a blog titled, "Dear Him and Growing Me."

"At first he wasn't even going to speak to me. Then I pulled around and I wanted to run him over. It all ran through my mind, but I kept driving."

The 28-year-old gospel music singing daughter of Grammy Award-winning Karen Clark Sheard, of the gospel music group The Clark Sisters, and Bishop J. Drew Sheard, was transparent in the blog post about her previous toxic relationship that seemed to be a turning point in her life.

"I see that he's just not it. And though there aren't any guys in my life that are keeping my attention, I might as well make it up in my mind to just let him go! Maybe this is time that I need to get to know me," she wrote. "On second thought, I shouldn't need distractions to keep my mind off of someone who treats me so bad. This reveals to me that I have a problem with myself."

In the post that has since been taken down, the singer recognized the need to remove toxic people from her life who were not complimenting her purpose.

"If there is absolutely no characteristic of Heaven in my relationships, I no longer want the hell that comes with it. I'm making a promise to myself to even build a better relationship with myself," Sheard wrote. "I don't want them to have space in my life nor will I allow them to have any mental space. ... The Bible says that Love casts out all fear but this 'love' is causing fear and anxiety."

In a closing statement, Sheard made it clear that the bulk of her post was written in the past, but said it was important for her to share with someone she could possibly help.

"Things I wrote while still learning. I hope this helps someone to release whatever isn't for them," she wrote. "I pray that you handle your business with class because two years before this, I would have chased him with the car. Relationships could be healthy, if we became healthy individuals before connecting. This was all apart of my growth."

During an interview with The Christian Post last July, Sheard said she was setting standards for herself and only wanted to be involved with a man who was interested in growing and evolving into his best self.

"I always try to make sure I have people around me who are willing to grow and who aren't wanting or OK with being stagnant. Having said that, there was one guy I was dating for so long but he just has a lot of growing and getting together to do," the singer revealed to CP. "I loved him, but I was having a hard time letting go, in addition to me being the closest person to him and seeing his potential. That, too, can be very hard."

Sheard said she once focused on the potential of her former love interest, but realized she could not wait for him to be the person she believed he could be.

"I [could have been] waiting forever, but for nothing. That's where my heart for my people comes in and it's attached to my career," the gospel singer said. "I love to see people do better because I like to do better. It's so important that we don't attach ourselves to the wrong thing."

The singer turns to the Bible for guidance about her personal life, and referenced a passage in Matthew 16:23 when Jesus told his disciple Peter that he had become a stumbling block.

"Jesus talked about a stumbling block when he was talking to Peter. He said, 'get thee behind me Satan.' The problem with us is we're so quick to want to embrace people," Sheard said. "I read my Bible so I'm able to maintain my personal life."
