Kim Kardashian Compares Self to 'Idol' Elizabeth Taylor, Draws Mixed Reactions (PHOTO)

Kim Kardashian garnered mixed reactions on Tuesday after she characteristically posted a selfie on Instagram, this time imitating the late Elizabeth Taylor.

The reality TV personality, who was a longtime fan of Taylor's, took to social networking site Instagram where she uploaded the controversial photograph. In it, Kardashian, 31, recreates Taylor's pose while wearing a white towel and flashing her diamond ring and she is standing next to a vintage photo of the late Hollywood actress.

The vintage photo of Taylor was reportedly taken by photographer Herb Ritts in Malibu in 1991, according to the Daily Mail UK.

"#MyIdol," Kardashian wrote in the Instagram photo caption.

While fans are impressed with Kardashian's latest selfie, critics have been quick to point out the stark differences between both women. Some have argued on twitter that making any comparison between Kardashian and the late Hollywood icon is simply "bizarre."

While Taylor, who launched her successful acting career as a child star, is widely regarded as having been one of the greatest screen actresses of Hollywood's Golden Age, Kardashian is a famed reality star who rose to stardom in 2007 following the release of her sex tape.

Other notable differences include Taylor's eight marriages versus Kardashian's two to-date. The E! star is however set to embark on her third in 2014, according to her fiance - rapper Kanye West.

In 2011 Kardashian had the pleasure of being one of the last people to interview the Hollywood legend before her passing in March, at the age of 79. The new mom acknowledged that Taylor's many marriages were among some of their personal differences.

"You are my idol. But I'm six husbands and some big jewels behind. What should I do?" Kardashian said as her opening question for Harper's Bazaar magazine.

"I never planned to acquire a lot of jewels or a lot of husbands. For me, life happened, just as it does for anyone else," Taylor replied.

"I have been supremely lucky in my life in that I have known great love, and of course I am the temporary custodian of some incredible and beautiful things," she added.

During that same year Kardashian dropped $64,000 on three jade and diamond bracelets that belonged to the screen legend, at an auction.

"If you have a piece of jade, the energy goes into the piece and you absorb the energy," Kardashian told Forbes. "So I can feel Elizabeth in the piece... Elizabeth Taylor is iconic. She is my idol and my icon."
