Kim Kardashian 'Ignoring' Vogue Cover Backlash, 'Beyond Happy'

Kim Kardashian is said to be ignoring the backlash surrounding her Vogue magazine cover with an insider claiming the reality TV star is unfazed by critics.

On Friday, Vogue readers were stunned to see the reality TV star, 33, and her rapper fiance Kanye West, 36, on the cover of the April edition and it immediately prompted backlash from critics including actress Sarah Michelle Gellar. By landing her first cover of the leading fashion publication, Kardashian transitioned from reality TV star to pop culture icon which garnered mixed reactions on social networking sites.

"Kim has wanted this for so long, she is beyond happy. She's ignoring all the negative backlash. She doesn't listen to what other people think," a source told Us magazine.

Gellar, among other critics, threatened to cancel her Vogue subscription due to the controversial cover.

"Well……I guess I'm canceling my Vogue subscription. Who is with me???" Gellar tweeted Friday.

While a select number of Kardashian fans, including her best friend Jonathan Cheban, took offense to Gellar's tweet, Twitter was ultimately flooded with tweets in favor of the "Buffy" star. Irate Vogue readers even went as far as to form hashtags condemning the cover with #boycottvogue proving most popular.

Meanwhile Kardashian appeared to be unfazed by haters while tweeting about her cover.

"This is such a dream come true!!! Thank you @VogueMagazine for this cover! O M GGGGGG!!! I can't even breath!" Kardashian tweeted.

Vogue Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour is renowned for selecting iconic Hollywood stars such as Beyonce Knowles to cover the fashion publication, as well as Olympic athletes and even highly respected political figures like First Lady Michelle Obama. Kardashian, who rose to stardom in 2007 following the release of her erotic tape, reportedly posed for the shoot in late January over a two-day period, according to Heat magazine.

The E! star appears standing in front of West dressed in an off-white wedding gown. The "New Slaves" rapper appears clutching his fiancee from behind while dressed in all black.

The cover was shot by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz and Kardashian's 9-month-old daughter baby North West also took part in the shoot.

Wintour publicly defended her decision to put the Hollywood power couple on the cover.

There's barely a strand of the modern media that the Kardashian Wests haven't been able to master, and for good reason," Wintour said in a statement obtained by Daily Mail U.K.

"Kanye is an amazing performer and cultural provocateur, while Kim, through her strength of character, has created a place for herself in the glare of the world's spotlight, and it takes real guts to do that," she added.
