Kim Kardashian is reportedly still determined to get a star on the Hollywood walk of fame despite having received an unpleasant response from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
The reality TV star, 32, rose to stardom in 2007 following the release of a sex tape and she went on to become one of the biggest names in reality TV thanks to her family's hit reality TV show "Keeping Up With The Kardashians." While critics have questioned the idea of Kardashian receiving a star, fans including rapper Kanye West, are convinced the new Mom has earned it.
"Kanye thinks she's the queen of reality TV," a source told HollywoodLife.com "Nobody comes close to matching her fame or empire and if there's anybody that deserves a star out there, it's Kim."
The Hollywood Walk of Fame currently consists of over 2000 stars that are embedded in a Hollywood sidewalk essentially to mark the achievement of some of Hollywood's biggest and brightest stars in the entertainment industry. The monument is generally reserved for successful musicians, actors, directors, and producers, among others.
Kardashian previously expressed her desire to have a star while defending her profession from critics. She revealed that she is tired of not being taken seriously in Hollywood.
"I think there was a quote where somebody said that reality stars will never get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. So, of course I'm so competitive that I think that it would be a huge achievement and a goal that anyone would want. I would love to break that mold," Kardashian previously told V magazine.
Kardashian's dreams of having her very own star on the Hollywood walk of fame were quickly shut down by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which is responsible for handing out stars to celebrities.
"She has not been nominated. She is a reality star. We don't do reality stars. She needs to get a real acting job then come to us," a rep for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce previously told Hollyscoop.
In the past, various celebrities including actors Daniel Craig and Jon Hamm have openly questioned Kardashian's fame status. While critics argue that the reality TV star became famous for selling her privacy as opposed to actually having talent, Kardashian previously insisted that this is not the case.
"It's always funny to me when people say that I'm famous for being famous. I think it's fascinating, because it's still entertainment, you know? It's fun to see the progression of that idea," Kardashian said.
"I'm not naive to the fact that I'm not a singer or an actress or anything like that. I've never claimed to be anything that I'm not. I think [reality] is still a new form of entertainment that was kind of an unexpected thing," explained.
