'Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue' Release Date, News & Updates: 3 Reasons Why PS4 Gamers Should Play 'KH2.8' And Forget 'Kingdom Hearts 3' For Now

"Kingdom Hearts 3" (KH3) is undeniably one of the most highly anticipated action role-playing games for several years now. Unfortunately, the game will not be released sooner as its developer Square Enix is currently prioritizing "Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" (KH2.8), which will be released this December.

'KH2.8' Will Be Exclusive For PS4

The Christian Post reported earlier that "KH2.8" will be exclusively released for PlayStation 4. It is an HD remastered collection of the "Kingdom Hearts" series and the successor to "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix."

Tai Yasue, "KH2.8" and "KH3" co-director, told GamesBeat early this month that Xbox One players should not be worried about being left out. He said that "KH3" can still be enjoyed even without getting acquainted with "KH2.8."

"As you know, all the Kingdom Hearts stories have a conclusion at the end of each Disney world. You can still enjoy that as well. For the whole arc, it might help to understand, but there's still a lot of fun in each Disney world," Yasue stated.

Why PS4 Gamers Should Get Excited About 'KH2.8'

Despite Yasue's clarification that Xbox One gamers will not be left out, PS4 players will still have an advantage. Here are the top reasons why PS4 gamers should forget about "KH3" for now and look forward to "KH2.8."

1. "KH3" could be enjoyed more when you play "KH2.8" first.

According to Yasue, "KH3" is a game that will be better if you have a background with all of other stories in the "Kingdom Hearts" series. With "KH2.8," you'll get a better understanding of the "Kingdom Hearts" stories because it will include "Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance," and new games "Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover" and "Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep–A Fragmentary Passage" (KH0.2).

2. "KH0.2" will bridge to "KH3."

"KH0.2" will focus on Aqua's perspective during her stay in the Dark World. Her sorrows and adventures in the Dark World are intertwined with the beginning of "KH3's" story, Hardcore Gamer revealed. Understanding Aqua's story is important because her tale is also connected with Sora's adventure. "When you play Kingdom Hearts 3, you understand Aqua's standpoint, and that makes Sora's experience richer as well," Yasue explained.

3. "KH2.8" will be different from its predecessors in terms of quality.

If you are a die-hard fan of the "Kingdom Hearts" series, getting a copy of "KH2.8" is ideal for learning the ending of the stories that you have followed. Aside from that, "KH2.8" will also introduce a new look and gameplay. It will come with stylized graphics and better game mechanics.

Preorders for "KH2.8" are available on Amazon US at $59.99.
