Kingdom Hearts 3 News: March 2015 Unveiling Is Unlikely, More Disney Characters Added

During the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2013 at Los Angeles, Square Enix has confirmed that Kingdom Hearts III, the eighth installment in the game series, is now undergoing developments.

As written in the January 2014 issue of Game Informer, director Tetsuya Nomura revealed that KH III's game plot will pick up "immediately after the events of 'Dream Drop Distance'" where characters Sora, Donald, and Goofy will seek the seven guardians of light as well as the "Key to Return Hearts."

Subsequent rumors indicated that the game will see a release date around March 2015. However, as of today, Square Enix as well as Disney Interactive Studios, its distributor, hasn't yet released any official statement of the game's unveiling date.

Although based on loose facts, there are speculations that further information about Kingdom Hearts 3 will ultimately be revealed in the upcoming Tokyo Game Show.

Hirokazu Kamamura, director of Kadokawa Group Holdings and president of Enterbrain, exressed hopes that major Japanese gaming companies (including Square Enix) will make big announcements at the expo, The Epoch Times reported.

"Shinji Hashimoto has previously stated that Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III would be missing E3, but that more information would be revealed at other events this year," Kamamura said.

"It's highly possible that we will finally learn new details about these two games [KH3 and FFXV] at Tokyo Game Show 2014," the director added.

Meanwhile, Gameranx cited a report from a Spanish gaming site Meristation revealing that Kingdom Hearts 3 co-director Tai Yasue has plans of incorporating the hit 2013 Disney movie "Frozen" into the game.

According to the publication, Yasue talked through the plans indicating that the snow mountain in the Land of Dragons, for Mulan, would be the basis for Frozen's world. He would also integrate other musical elements reminiscent from the movie into the game universe.

Tai also implied that there will be other Disney properties that will be incorporated in the KH 3. These would include Star Wars, Marvel, and Pixar.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is slated to launch on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.
