Kirsten Dunst Granted Restraining Order

Kirsten Dunst once played the queen of France in Sofia Coppola’s “Marie Antoinette” now the actress has to get an order of protection from one overly loyal French fans.

Dunst has obtained a three-year restraining order against Jean Christophe Prudhon, a French citizen whom she claims had been stalking her.

Today, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Carol Boas Goodson granted a request from the 29-year-old starlet’s lawyer made in December to prolong an order of protection against Prudhon. This came after reports from her camp which stated he had written more than 50 letters and had even showed up at her mother's home in an attempt to meet her.

The judge originally was set to rule on the matter Dec. 21. That was not possible since Prudhorn was not actually served his papers in his native France until the day before his court date. Therefore Goodson was forced to push the hearing back until today while extending the temporary order already issued.

The temporary restraining order, issued by Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday, orders Prudhon to stay at least 100 yards from Dunst, her home, her car and her workplace. Neither Dunst nor Prudhon attended the court proceedings.

That will be a welcome relief for Dunst, who is riding high on a career wave at the moment with the reviews she has been receiving for her latest performance in Lars von Trier's anticipated new film “Melancholia,” which is on the top of several critics' year-end lists.

In one of the letters to Dunst which was included in the proceedings, Prudhon claimed to have gone to the United States multiple times in an effort to meet Dunst. Reports also state that he sold his house as a way to pay for one of the trips.

"This is not the right/accepted way to do but honesty and directness, I have no other way," one of Prudhon's letters reads, according to TMZ.
