Lady Gaga is reportedly planning to marry her boyfriend Taylor Kinney, with a close friend claiming the wedding may take place during the summer.

The 26-year-old pop star, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, began dating the "Vampire Diaries" actor in 2011 and they are reportedly ready to walk down the aisle.

"She's told me he's the one and you know that instantly when you see them together. They were made for each other," DJ Lady Starlight, who is a good friend of Gaga's, reportedly told The Sun UK.

"At first I thought he was too hot to be cool but now I think he's totally awesome," she added.

The couple is currently living together in Chicago, where Gaga is recovering from hip surgery and Kinney is reportedly filming a new TV series. Starlight claims the pair, who is yet to confirm an engagement, will likely make a wedding announcement in coming weeks.

"From all I've heard, I don't think I'm dropping a secret by saying they are ready to get hitched this year," she said.

"There's a summer period when his shooting schedule will be clear and her concert and studio commitments will be minimal," she continued. "So expect an announcement some time soon."

In 2012, it was claimed that Kinney, 31, was shopping around for a promise ring for Gaga as a symbol of their undying love.

"Taylor is shopping for a promise ring. They both have been in Chicago for the past week, staying at a swanky hotel downtown," a source previously told HollywoodLife.com.

"Taylor is filming a movie called Chicago Fire. Today he went to an upscale jewelry store on Michigan Avenue asking about rings," the source said. "He said something about a promise ring."

Gaga began dating Kinney three months after her split from musician and bartender Luc Carl, who she credits for helping her become "successful" in the music industry.
