This segment, however, will deal with the dangerous underground world of sex trafficking.

To play as the character Martha Thornhill, actress Lili Taylor will take on the role of a mother who lost her daughter named Ariel.

A synopsis for the upcoming segment was posted on the Futon Critic where it reads:

"Working undercover to bust a sex trafficking ring, Det. Carisi (Peter Scanavino) stumbles upon Martha Thornhill (guest star Lili Taylor), a mother who has embedded herself as a Madame in the organization for three years in hopes of finding and saving her daughter, Ariel. Martha joins forces with the SVU and they work together to bust the pimp and his cohorts, but Ariel is still missing. Meanwhile, Sgt. Benson (Mariska Hargitay) is confronted with a harsh revelation that will change her life forever."

Speaking of mothers, this season saw Benson adopting a baby named Noah in an episode called "Wednesday's Child."

During an interview with The New York Post, Hargitay revealed some intriguing hints of a plot development surrounding the infant boy.

"There's a huge thing coming up about baby Noah," she said. "It's scary."

"Law and Order: SVU" Season 16 airs "Undercover Mother" this Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 9 p.m. on NBC.
