'Law & Order: SVU' Season 15 Spoilers: Benson Fights the System and Lewis' Ghost (VIDEO)

"Law & Order: SVU" returns this week with an all-new episode picking up exactly where the show left off two weeks ago. Tonight Benson again finds herself in a fight for her job and for another victim, the same little girl taken by William Lewis.

Viewers can expect to see the show pick up in the moments after Lewis committed suicide in front of Benson and the young girl. She is still covered in his blood and receiving treatment from medical personnel, as well as welcomes and hugs from her colleagues, who are just grateful that she is alive and Lewis is dead.

Benson being Benson, however, she is not willing to let things go. Instead, she works tirelessly in order to learn what Lewis did to the young girl and to get justice for her. But that's not the only fight that Benson is involved in. She must fight for her own job after Internal Affairs finds "evidence" that Lewis may not have committed suicide but instead was murdered.

"There's an IAB and grand jury investigation … If you noticed, he [Lewis] switched hands right at the end. If you shoot yourself, you use your right hand to your right temple. If someone shoots you, at point blank range, it goes to your left temple if you're a righty," Leight teased.

But don't expect everything to end negatively for Benson. Showrunner Warren Leight told TV Guide that Benson may finally get a happy ending after going through all she has been through, especially this season.

"The notion that Olivia can never be happy is probably due for a slight makeover," Leight said.

Tonight's show "is the car going over the cliff," according to Leight. "The next episode [tonight's episode] will be in many ways the final installment. By the time episode 21 airs I think there will be as much closure [as] you can get with something like this," he told E! News.

"Law & Order: SVU" airs Wednesday nights on NBC.
