'Law & Order: SVU' Season 17 Episode 8 Spoilers: Benson Stricken With Panic As Son Goes Missing

Olivia Benson is about to get the worst scare in her life when the 17th season of the hit police-procedural drama TV series from NBC, "Law & Order: SVU," continues this week with the episode titled "Melancholy Pursuit." Meanwhile, the SVU follows the trail of a missing girl.

In the promo trailer for the upcoming episode which is shared over at Latin Post, the lieutenant can be seen having a great time as she spends time with "the most important thing in her life" in a public playground. Deeply engrossed in a conversation with someone, Benson begins to notice that Noah, her son, has disappeared from her sight. Clearly stricken with panic, the SVU officer then rushes around the scene, looking for him, but as the video suggested, she seemed unable to locate the kid. Has Noah been kidnapped?

However, the official synopsis for the episode made no mention of Noah's abduction, although this particular plot will be given weight in this episode.

The summary, however, stated that viewers will get to see more of the Special Victims Unit's newcomer Sgt. Dodds. This time around, he will handle a case concerning the disappearance of a missing girl. But what makes this incident in the episode very significant is that fans will get to see a different side of the sergeant who has only been known before as the son of the SVU deputy chief.

LP speculates that Dodds might know some of the people involved, particularly the victim.

The report from Carter Matt meanwhile hinted that the greenhorn's all-out effort to make a name for himself and impress his new superior might bring a toll to himself. Perhaps the emotionally-charged case aforementioned could be the trigger of his major breakdown.

Find out how these events unfold when "Law & Order: SVU" Season 17 Episode 8 "Melancholy Pursuit" airs this Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 9 p.m. on CBS.
