Android 5.0 Lollipop Update on LG G2 News: Screenshots Show LG Device Running in Lollipop
Following the news of LG G3 getting the latest mobile operating system, Android 5.0 Lollipop, owners of the later model, the LG G2, have been wondering if their units will also get the update. Here's what we heard.
A report from CustomsToday.com says that LG G2 users will likely receive the latest Google mobile OS sooner than what was expected. A leaked screenshot showing the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop with build number LRX21Y running on the 2013 LG flagship smartphone.
"The LG G3 is guaranteed to get Android Lollipop just as soon as LG finishes tailoring the update for their 2014 flagship device. But those who bought the first redefining smartphone from LG in 2013 have an Android L update to look forward to, judging by the leaked 'software info' screenshot that has hit the web," the site said.
Customs Today noted that LG G2 owners should still take this news with a grain of salt because the screenshot in question was leaked from an LG G2 model F320L – the South Korean LTE-A version of the device.
This goes to say that for US LG G2 handlers, they'll most likely to get the update later in 2015 – and even later after that, according to reports.
The other reason given is that although LG confirmed an Android 5.0 Lollipop for the G2 in August last year, its release date in the U.S. market is still being kept under wraps.
The latest reports from the Android rumor mills indicate that Google will be releasing the 5.1 Lollipop version in the coming days or weeks.
