LG Optimus G Pro Specifications Revealed, Release Date Set for April

LG will release its new Optimus G Pro smartphone some time this year and the specifications for the device are quite impressive.

Engadget revealed the specs for the device in a recent report along with some other information related to the handset's design.

The Optimus Pro G will be slightly thicker than the LG Optimus G in order to accommodate a larger battery. It will also run Android 4.1, JellyBean, and will be equipped to connect with the Japanese carrier NTT Docomo's LTE network. Its Wi-Fi tethering feature will be able to accommodate up to eight devices.

Other specifications on the Optimus G Pro include a 5-inch 1080p HD display, a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro Processor, 32GB of internal storage, microSD card slot for extra external storage, 2GB RAM, 3,000mAh battery, 4G LTE support, a 13-megapixel camera, and a 2.4-megsapixel front camera.

The release date for the Optimus G Pro is set for April for customers in Japan. NTT Docomo accounced earlier this week that it would make the smartphone available at that time through a press release that was translated by Google from Japanese to English.
No information has been released regarding the smartphone's release in other countries, however, it should launch in South Korea, Canada and the United States sometime this year. The Optimus G Pro's predecessor, the Optimus G, is currently available in all of those nations.

LG will also be rolling out the Android 4.1, JellyBean update for the Optimus G this month.

"As 4G LTE availability expands on a global scale, we will leverage our strong LTE technology and expertise to offer consumers the best 4G experience through our devices," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.

"With the latest JellyBean OS and improved software, Optimus G will make a strong case for the title of ultimate premium 4G LTE smartphone," he added.
