Lindsay Lohan News: Abandoning Catholic Upbringing and Converting to Islam?

After causing a stir when she was spotted last summer clutching a Koran, Lindsay Lohan is now sharing her interest in Islam. Lohan says that, being a very spiritual person, she likes to explore other religions. She has been studying Islam, but has not confirmed whether she will in fact be converting to the religion.

The Catholic-born actress spoke with The Sun, "I'm a very spiritual person and I'm really open to learning." She pointed out that America now portrays holding the Koran in a much different way than it actually is. She continued, "We all believe in something and at the end of the day it all ties to a god or a spiritual adviser."

LiLo revealed that she has not finished reading the Koran as yet. It could be the reason why she has not yet made any confirmation as to whether she is indeed making the move to convert.

She shared during her interview that it could take some time with the book's lengthy text.

She is not the only one in the family who has turned to another religion. Her sister Ali, according to LiLo, has turned to Buddhism, who is looking to learn from her too. The "Mean Girls" star believes it is good to be open-minded about these things.

During her interview, LiLo also clarified that Islam is not the only religion that interests her. She tells of her enjoyment in exploring all types of religions. But if and when she decides to convert to Islam, LiLo will not be the only celebrity to do so. Janet Jackson, Jemima Khan, Cat Stevens, Mike Tyson, and Cassius Clay have all chosen to convert.

Besides taking an interest in her spirituality, LiLo actually made another major decision in life. "The Canyons" star made waves recently when her engagement to Russian business heir Egor Tarabasov was reported.
