Former soap opera actress Lisa Rinna has explained her campaign for adult diapers this week.

The "Days of Our Lives" star has become a spokesperson for Depends and appears in a commercial for the adult diaper company wearing their product.

"I did it for Charity," Rinna told The Huffington Post. "They donated $225,000 to Dress for Success if I tried them on in the commercial. That's why I did it."

"I don't endorse many products," Rinna continued. "When I was first asked, I was surprised. I'm not the person you think of when you think of Depends. That's what I love about it."

"Plus, I love their campaign," she added.

Although the actress does not personally wear Depends, Rinna's adverts encourage women not be embarrassed about their bodies.

The actress was "not afraid" to appear in the adult diaper ads, and explained, "I believe women should feel good about themselves and if that means they need to talk about their problems, then absolutely. We need to help each other."

While Rinna, 48, does not wear Depends, she has described herself as a "champion for positive self-image for women."

"You can go out and live your life with confidence and I love that take," said Rinna of the Depends commercial. "I found out that 56 million people suffer from incontinence, that's one fifth of the population. That's huge!"

In the commercial, the "Melrose Place" actress appears on the red carpet wearing a form fitting dress. When asked what she is wearing, it is revealed that Rinna dons a Depends Silhouette undergarment.

Rinna appears in the commercial alongside her husband, Harry Hamlin, who also supports the Depends campaign.

The actress' advert for the unglamorous undergarment has people on Twitter talking about their surprise.

"Watching commercials for fast forward, I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me," wrote Misty. "Nope, that really was Lisa Rinna in a Depends ad."

"Did Lisa Rinna take a career misstep," posted Metro, and joked, "Depends!"

"The world is coming to an end!! I just saw Harry Hamlin as an extra in a Depends commercial where Lisa Rinna was the star!" Michael posted.

Ryan joked, "Lisa Rinna's Agent: 'What commercials are you willing to do?' Lisa: 'Dunno. It depends.' Agent: PERFECT!'"
