Lodi Crash: 5 Dead Including Unborn Child, 9-Year-Old Sole Survivor in Critical Condition

Five people were killed including an unborn baby when their vehicle was struck by a vehicle described by witness as driving recklessly. The crash occurred in Lodi, Calif., Wednesday evening and involved a total of six cars.

Police revealed that speeding and reckless driving were factors of the crash that occurred at busy intersection.

The victims, all members from a family of six, included two adults and three children. 32-year-old Luís Miranda and 31-year-old Viviana Rodriguez, who was pregnant, died at the scene.

Their kids, 12-year-old Irving, 6-year-old José and 5-year-old Stephanie all died as a results of their injures. There other 9-year-old sibling was listed in critical condition at a local area hospital.

Witnesses spotted a Chevy Tahoe driving erratically before the accident.

"He looked angry, like he was on a mission," witness Erin Andrews told The Sacramento Bee.

"I stood there and cried, just crying because it could have been me if the timing had been different. … He just had such total disregard for human life," Andrews recalls.

Lt. Sierra Brucia stated that there is currently an investigation open to see what factors may have contributed to the accident including drugs or alcohol.

"This is a major accident. ... It would take several months to investigate, this thing is so fluid," he states.

The victims' bodies will be taken to Guerrero state in Mexico, where they reportedly have family.

"Officials from this consulate general are in contact with the family of the deceased to provide them with the necessary consular and legal assistance, helping them with the proceedings for the transfer of the remains to the state of Guerrero in Mexico, and monitoring the condition of the Mexican nationals who survived the accident," a spokesperson for the consulate said in a statement.
