Heat Wave in Los Angeles County to Continue this Week
The punishing summer heat wave in Los Angeles County in California will continue this week.
The heat wave will reportedly continue until Wednesday this week, with some areas in LA County to reach as high as 108F. Officials say that the ongoing heat wave might result in possible wildfires, heat strokes among people and other heat-related conditions.

The heat wave in California is caused by "an upper-level high-pressure system combined with weakening onshore flow," the Daily News reported, citing the National Weather Service (NWS). The heat wave began last Saturday and is expected to continue this week until Wednesday.
Areas in the county including the Antelope Valley, San Gabriel Mountains and other areas in other valleys might experience triple-digit temperatures soaring up to 108 degrees. Other areas in LA county might have temperatures between 100F to 105F.
Heat Wave Wildfires and Heat-Related Illnesses
The most prone for heat-related conditions are the elderly, infants, homeless and those who work outside or have outdoor activities. Patch noted that the issued statement recommended citizens to be prepared by wearing comfortable and light clothing, drinking water regularly and wearing sunscreen. They also warned vehicle owners not to leave children or pets inside parked vehicles, considering the weather. The officials also warned that the increasing heat temperatures will likely result in wildfires.
"The combination of hot temperatures, low humidity, and very dry fuels will bring an extended period of elevated fire danger to southwest California Saturday through Wednesday," the NWS said in a statement.
NWS Forecast in LA
The NWS provided a forecast for different areas in LA. San Gabriel is to have High 87F, 88F in Burbank and Mount Wilson, 91F in Pasadena, 96 in Woodland Hills, 100 in Palmdale, 101F in Lancaster, 95F in Saugus, 77F in Long Beach and 82F in downtown LA. There will be partly cloudy skies in these areas.
Orange County, on the other hand, will have sunny skies. There will be High 77F in San Clemente, 80F in Laguna Beach, 85F in Irvine, Mission Viejo and Anaheim, 88F in Fullerton, 90F in Yorba Lina, and 78F in Newport Beach.
