Los Angeles Dodgers vs Atlanta Braves takes place in Game 1 of the NL Division Series tonight as the MLB 2013 postseason kicks off. The game is scheduled to start at 8.37 p.m. ET and can be watched online through live stream (details below).
The Dodgers and the Braves played each other seven times this season with the Braves coming out on top, winning five of the seven, where as the Dodgers took just two. However, it should be noted that the Dodgers had a very strange season, and all those seven games came out when Los Angeles were still playing way below the levels they reached towards the end of the season.
Pitching will be pivotal in this game, and both sides will hope to dominate from the mound tonight. Kris Medlen will be walking out tonight and his stats are 15-12, 3.11 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 157 K in 197 IP, and he will be up against NL Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw whose stats are 16-9, 1.83 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, 232 K in 236 IP.
Kershaw has not faced off against the Braves this season, and in his entire career against the Braves he is 2-2 with a 3.74 ERA. He has also only made one start in Turner Field, in which he worked seven innings. In that game he allowed two earned runs on eight hits while striking out 10.
Meanwhile, Medlen played the Dodgers twice this season, and experienced great success. He worked 13 2/3 innings, allowing only seven hits and zero earned runs. He struck out 11 and walked four.
