Los Angeles Kings vs Chicago Blackhawks takes place in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup 2013 Playoffs Western Conference Finals, with the Blackhawks having the chance to win their second conference title in four seasons. The game is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. ET and can be watched online through free live stream (details below).
The Blackhawks managed to win Game 4 on the road in Los Angeles and that means they return to home ice tonight for Game 5, 3-1 ahead in the series, and with the chance to win the Campbell Bowl in front of their home fans – and of course a spot in the Stanley Cup Final.
Many pundits had expected the Kings to cause a lot more trouble for the Blackhawks than they've managed so far in this series, but so far they have merely been bystanders as the Blackhawks have shown the lesson after lesson on the ice. Of course the Kings have had their own problems, including a number of injuries, but they will no doubt be disappointed with the position they find themselves in coming into Game 5.
In Game 4 they led 1-0, and also 2-1 but still were unable to stop the Blackhawks coming at them and they ended up surrendering the lead and losing the game on home ice.
That result has left the Kings on the brink, and it is clear what they now have to do in this series – win three consecutive games; they have no more room for any slip-ups. It is win or go home time for Los Angeles – they must win on the road tonight, as well as at home in what would be Game 6, and even if they do manage to do that and extend the series all the way to Game 7 they will have to defeat the high-flying Blackhawks on the road again to complete the comeback.
