LA Lakers Roster and Team News 2015: Lakers to Face Timberwolves on Opening Night

With the NBA regular season set to start in the final week of October, the league has recently unveiled the team's schedule for the year.

For the Los Angeles Lakers, they have been tipped to face the Minnesota Timberwolves. The match will be held at Staples Center and it should be a much-anticipated game for multiple reasons. One of the most obvious is the return of Kobe Bryant.

He has been out for most of last season after suffering injuries. However, he believes he still has so much left in the tank that he can have another go and play different roles if possible.

Already entering his 20th season in the league, Bryant has averaged 25.4 points and 4.8 assists per game throughout his career. He has won five championships, all with the Lakers, and is considered one of the best players of all time.

Another reason is the match between this year's number one and two draft picks.

In a year left with so much optimism for the future of the league, the Timberwolves used their first pick to acquire Karl Anthony-Towns as their franchise forward.

The Wolves are slowly looking like a team for the future as a young core of ultra-talented players is set to take on the majority of minutes.

As for the Lakers, they were given the second pick and went against the grain to draft point guard D'Angelo Russell. Many were surprised by the move but few can deny the capacity of Russell. He is considered an NBA-ready guard who can link up with Bryant and Jordan Clarkson on the back-court.

This early in the year, it should be interesting how both players can adapt to the league early in their careers. Both are tapped for greatness and it should be on full display when the two teams clash in Hollywood.
