Lutherans to Represent at New Year’s Rose Parade

A Lutheran float will be the only religious float to greet the New Year in the 118th Rose Parade – an event watched by millions around the world.

The Southern California District of the International Lutheran Laymen’s League, a Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) auxiliary, is sponsoring “The Lutheran Hour” float at the Rose Parade on Jan. 1 in Pasadena, Calif. LCMS president Gerald B. Kieschnick and his wife Terry will ride the float themed “God’s Great Nature.”

The parade will showcase 45 floral floats, 23 equestrian units, and 21 marching bands. The Rose Parade, whose theme is “Our Good Nature,” precedes the much anticipated Rose Bowl Game, which matches up college football’s top two teams.
