'Mad Max 5' News, Update: Director George Miller Teases 'Fury Road' Sequel, 'Mad Max 4' Gets Rave Reviews

Despite the obstacles it faced during its production, the Tom Hardy-led "Mad Max: Fury Road" finally hit the theaters this past weekend and it garnered tremendous reception both by movie-goers and reviewers alike.

A.O. Scott of the New York Times said that the movie was "all great fun, and quite rousing as well -- a large-scale genre movie that is at once unpretentious and unafraid to bring home a message."

Screen Rant's respondent Kofi Outlaw said that the title "is beautifully strange, violent and thrilling cinematic composition" which further proves its director, George Miller, to be a more "brilliant maestro than ever."

"The sort of exhilarating gonzo entertainment that makes even the nuttier Fast and Furious movies look like Autopia test drives," Justin Chang from Variety chimed in.

Amidst the hype it generated, Miller took to his social media to give his thanks to the public. He even teased "more Max" films coming.

"Hello Twitter! Thanks for all the kind words written and said about the film. We had a lot of fun making it..and there's more Max to come," the helmer's Twitter post reads.

Cinema Blend, meanwhile, said that the idea of a "Mad Max 5" has already been planned long-before Fury Road was put in production and it was called "Mad Max: Furiosa."

The publication however noted that it remains to be seen if these earlier theories coincide with the "same plans that Miller seems to be teasing" recently.

"It's worth mentioning that the filmmaker has talked about a failed anime project that would have told the backstory of Charlize Theron's Furiosa character," according to the site.

Aside from Hardy and Theron, "Mad Max: Fury Road" features the acts of X-Men actor Nicholas Hoult, Transformers star Rosie Huntington, and Zoe Kravitz, who played the role of Toast.
