'Mad Men' Final Season Release Date: Final Season Part 2 Airs April 5

The award-winning and critically-acclaimed drama series "Mad Men" is nearing its end, as part 2 of Season 7 aptly called "The End of An Era" will air on April 5, 2015 on AMC. "Mad Men" continues as a series about the lives of a group of advertising executives working in New York City. While the first six seasons was set in the 1960s, Season 7 will be set at the start of a new decade, the 1970s.

During part 1 of Season 7, the main characters in the series are already dealing with "the dynamics of offices and lives split between New York and Los Angeles. The final season, according to Rotten Tomatoes, has received critical acclaim.

"Just in time to rekindle viewers' interest, 'Mad Men' gets back on track for one last season, revisiting its steady, deliberate pace and style on its way to a sure-to-be-compelling climax," the site reported.

A recently released teaser of the series however is reported to show "a major change." According to a report on Huffington Post, the show's creator, Matthew Weiner, is known for using music as a cue to the exact era that the show is set in. The teaser shows photos of the main cast of characters as Diana Ross' "Love Hangover" is playing. According to the report, the song was released in March 1976, which suggests quite a jump from 1969 setting in the last episode of part 1 of the final season.

Since "Mad Men" first came out in 2007, it has received numerous awards from the American Film Institute, Emmys, Creative Arts Emmys, Peabody among others. It has also been recognized by different guilds and societies, such as the Screen Actors Guild, Writers Guild of America, Television Critics Association among others.

Matthew Weiner is credited as creator of the series. Lionsgate TV produces the series which airs on AMC.
