Right after Christmas Day, the English Premier League pits the best teams in the country against each other and for Game Week 18, Manchester United travel to the Britannia Stadium to face Stoke City.

At the moment, the standings show that United are just out of the top four spots as they are fifth with 29 points after 17 games. They are level on points with Tottenham Hotspur who are fourth in the league, but the Red Devils are behind on goal difference.

They are also trying to fend off Crystal Palace in sixth place who also have 29 points so far this season but only have a +7 goal difference compared to United's +8.
Meanwhile, Stoke City are 11th in the league and are only behind United by six points as they have 23 so far. The teams in between them are Palace, Watford, West Ham United, Liverpool and Everton and a win over the Red Devils may see them jump to at least eighth spot in the table and close the gap against United.
Stoke have only won once in their last four league matches – in a 2-0 win over Manchester City and they are now looking to beat another Manchester club. They drew against West Ham but lost to Sunderland and, most recently, Crystal Palace.
On the other hand, the Red Devils have been disappointing in their last four games as they have failed to win in any of those games.
They settled for draws against Leicester city and at home against West Ham, before losing to AFC Bournemouth and Norwich City ahead of their battle against Stoke City.
Now they are trying to turn things around against Stoke who have always been a tough team to beat.
