Maria Menounos was recently spotted casually biking while walking the beach in Greece. But in previous interviews the news host has admitted that she wasn't always thin and had to lose weight while she was still "dirt poor."
The NBC Nightly News host showed off a firm stomach in Mykonos, Greece while taking a stroll along the beach on Wednesday. Now 35, Menounos has spent the past week on vacation alongside family and friends. But the "Access Hollywood" host admits that there was a time when she wasn't always so confident about her body.
In a previous interview, Menounos said that she gained an extra 40 pounds in college and struggled with many failed diets in order to lose the extra weight. She was up from a size 4 to a size 14 when she decided to be more proactive.
"I decided enough was enough," she told Fitness magazine. "Depriving myself didn't work because, yeah, I'd resist a craving one night, but then it'd come back the next day and it'd be worse."
Instead, Menounos said she restricted her diet little by little, successfully losing 20 pounds in five months. She lost the last 20 pounds in six months after hiring a personal trainer for $70.
"I hired her for one session, and she wrote out for me a general circuit program of jump rope, steps, push-ups, sit-ups, squats, and lunges," the host said. But it wasn't easy to afford at the time, because Menounos didn't have much money.
"I did it on my own, when I was dirt-poor," she told the magazine.
It been nearly a decade now since Menounos lost the weight. Her new weakness comes in the form of fuzzy animals.
'This would only happen 2 me - two puppies emerge from the mountains in Mykonos..hugged them/left as friends said they must be owned by someone," the celebrity wrote on her Twitter account Wednesday. "Then three hours later..3 miles away they show up with their mom at our house!!!! gave them bath...ugh what do I do!! so cute!"
