No. 6 seeds Butler will have their work cut out tonight against No. 3 seeded Marquette. Butler ended impressively in their 68-56 win over the Bucknell Bison on Thursday, and they will be hoping to continue their good form.
In particular, forward Andrew Smith achieved a double-double, scoring 14 points and claiming a career high of 16 rebounds in that game.
However, they have a lot to improve upon tonight as the challenge gets tougher against the Golden Eagles.
Rontei Clarke had a tough time shooting in the second round, scoring 17 points but was just 5 for 14 from the field. He will be hoping to improve upon that tonight to help Butler through.
Butler are trying to get through to their third Final Four appearance in four years this season, and they will have to up their game to achieve that.
Meanwhile the Golden Eagles have problems of their own. They were not entirely convincing in their game against Davidson, winning by the slimmest of margins, 59-58.
In that match up guard Vander Blue hit a game-winning lay-up with 1.0 second left. That final second win will have lifted morale significantly in the Marquette camp and they will be hoping to now kick on and progress in the tournament.
