'Mass Effect: Andromeda' Character Import: Players Can Share and Use Personalized Ryders Through 'Archives' Platform

Recently, it has been confirmed that players of "Mass Effect: Andromeda" will have the option to upload their personalized Ryders, in the same way that they can use other's customized characters through the "Mass Effect" Archives.

A player named Musely on Reddit, who got early access to the game, revealed a screenshot proving that the Character Import option is real. Musely shared a screenshot of a Character Customization panel where a personally designed Ryder can be seen while the mouse pointer is hovering over the "Import Character Data" option.

Apparently, when the "Import Character Data" has been chosen, a message will come out saying: "If you've set up an account on the Mass Effect Archives website, this option allows you to import a Mass Effect: Andromeda character you've previously uploaded or use custom appearance that others have shared online. An active internet connection is required. You need to be connected online to import character data."

Once players go to the "Mass Effect" Archives website, they will see a notification message saying that the platform is still in its Beta version. The website teases, "Soon, you'll be able to view your custom Ryders created in 'Mass Effect: Andromeda,' share them with your friends, and choose one to use on your next playthrough."

As these messages suggest, players will still have to wait until the website is up and running. However, reports note that this will not let players use a previously designed Ryder from any of the "Mass Effect" trilogy titles, reiterating that "Mass Effect: Andromeda" is a completely separate game from the previous franchise releases. But it is still interesting to consider that the Archives platform will let players use Ryders that closely resemble the characters they used from the trilogy.

Once available, players can start signing up for accounts on the "Mass Effect" Archives website. When they are able to get inside, players will only have to upload the character they designed or skip that part and just choose the Ryder that they want.

Any chosen Ryder should be saved and later on be imported to the "Mass Effect: Andromeda" game. After saving the character from the Archives, players need to open the menu to create a new character and be certain that they choose the "Custom" option.

From there, select the earlier mentioned "Import Character Data" and proceed to upload the earlier chosen Ryder. For this process to be successful, players need to make sure they have an internet connection and that their Archives account is linked to their "Mass Effect: Andromeda" game.
