Microsoft Lumia 640 and 640 XL Release Date News: Handsets Rumored to Arrive on AT&T This Month

A new unconfirmed report arrived this week saying that AT&T subscribers will get to grab the new mid-range devices from Microsoft, the Microsoft Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL, "later this month," June.

According to Phone Arena, who picked up the story, this information has reportedly been shared by a Lumia representative to WinSuperSite.com.

The site quoted the rep saying that the Lumia 640 will be released first "possibly within the next week" and will cost in "the low to mid $100 dollar range." Its big brother, the Microsoft 640 XL meanwhile will hit the shelves "by the end of June" and could cost "approximately $100 more."

It should be worth nothing that the Lumia 640 has already been made available in Cricket at $129.99 and T-Mobile is expected to release the phone this June 17th.

Slightly different from what has been rumored earlier, the device was revealed with a 5-inch 720 x 1280 resolution display screen with a pixel density of 294ppo. Under the hood, it runs on a quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 chipset with an Adreno 305 GPU. Not 3GB, as what has been reported, but 1GB of RAM is inside the device along with an 8GB worth of internal storage memory. It arrives with an 8MP primary camera spec, coupled with a .9MP front snapper.

The 640 XL, meanwhile, has relatively the same specs with the first except for the larger screen measuring 5.7 inches. The camera also gets a huge improvement with a 13 megapixel spec as well as its secondary snapper which is now in at 5MP. The device is powered with a 3000mAh battery while the former has a smaller 2500mAh power house.
