Microsoft Surface Phone Release Date, Specs News: 'Ultimate Mobile Device' to Come in Three Variants All Powered by Snapdragon 835
With tech giants such as Apple and Google currently leading the market when it comes to mobile device sales, it comes as no surprise that Microsoft is currently hard at work to come up with the "ultimate mobile device" that can give the competition a run for their money.
In an interview with The Australian Financial Review late last year, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella addressed persistent rumors about the company's plans of launching a new line of mobile phones under their established Surface brand. He said that, if and when Microsoft does decide to branch into another device category, it would be something that offers a different experience for today's mobile device enthusiast.
With a keen focus on the how the devices are being used, rather than on who are using the said devices, Microsoft endeavors to launch a mobile device that will set itself apart from the rest.

"We will continue to be in the phone market, not as defined by today's market leaders, but by what it is that we can uniquely do in what is the most ultimate mobile device," Nadella said. Since this interview, rumors about the possible release of a Surface Phone in 2017 have started making the rounds.
But since the company did not announce anything regarding the rumored mobile device during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas early this year, and has also kept mum about it at the recently concluded Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona last month, experts and enthusiasts alike are left to wonder when the device will be released.
Current speculations place the possible release date for the Microsoft Surface Phone to the second half of 2017, with a potential announcement coming in June.
The rumored Surface Phone may come in three variants: a reasonably priced consumer model, a Blackberry replacement business model, and a power-user enthusiast edition that could rival the Samsung Galaxy Note phones. All of these models are expected to come with a 5.7-inch display with storage capacities that range from 32 GB to 500 GB.
And since Microsoft announced their partnership with Qualcomm in December 2016, the Surface Phone is now expected to pack the company's brand-new Snapdragon 835 chipset. Being Qualcomm's first 10 nm processor, the Snapdragon 835 may bring either 40 percent lower power consumption or 27 percent higher performance to Microsoft's competitive mobile device.
Microsoft has yet to release official information about the rumored Surface Phone.
