Microsoft Surface Pro 5 Release Date and News: Surface Pro 5 to Launch Earlier with Arrival of Intel Kaby Lake Chips? [DETAILS]

The Surface Pro 5 is Rumored to Come with Intel Kaby Lake Chips

It is rumored that the release of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is dependent on the coming of the Kaby Lake chips by Intel.

Outfitting the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 with Kaby Lake processors would mean that it could support more Windows 10 devices in the future. However, the chips will not be released until early next year which means the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 might also be released in 2017 as well.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 was initially thought to be released on the last quarter of 2016. However, a new rumor says that it might be delayed until early 2017 after the release of the seventh generation Intel Kaby Lake chips, according to MNR Daily.

The delay is that so the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be able to support more Windows 10 devices. Additionally, it is rumored that the laptop will ship with the latest operating system Windows 10 with the Redstone 2 update.

However, International Business Times points out that Intel has stated that their Kaby Lake processors will be released at the end of 2016. This could mean that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be released early next year or do without the chips to take part in the holidays.

Microsoft Surface Pro 5 Specs, News & Updates

The incorporation of the new Kaby Lake processors together with the Redstone 2 update would mean a Surface Pro 5 with jam-packed features. According to Design & Trend, the Surface Pro 5 might be able to support Microsoft features including Surface Pen interaction, Continuum and Windows Hello.

Additionally, the Surface Pro 5 is said to be able to support 4K video output. It may also house 32GB RAM, a USB Type-C part to fast charge the device and a new stylus that will charge directly in the device. The Country Caller reports that the Surface Pro 5 might cost around $900 to $1600.

Microsoft has not issued any official statements regarding the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 so the rumors will remain as they are.
