Microsoft Surface Pro 5 Rumors: Scheduled for Q1 Release?

Technology enthusiasts will probably have to wait a little longer to get a glimpse of Microsoft's next Surface Pro, as it will reportedly be launched in spring this year.

Recent rumors of a spring release surfaced when Microsoft failed to reveal any updates on the Surface Pro 5 during the recently concluded Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona. According to PC Advisor, the technology giant is probably waiting for the next big Windows 10 update, dubbed as the Creators Update, tentatively scheduled for April. Speculations claim that Surface Pro 5 will feature the newest Surface hardware.

When the Surface Pro 4 was released in October 2015, many were expecting that the next version would come a year later. Microsoft has recently announced a price cut on the latest Surface Pro, fueling rumors that the company is preparing for the arrival of the next hybrid tablet. There have also been a lot of rumors as to the specifications of the Surface Pro 5.

A leak claimed that Pegatron, the Taiwanese electronics manufacturing company who made the Surface Studio, has been chosen, yet again, to produce the device. The Surface Pro 5 will reportedly feature 4K display and an upgraded stylus. The pen may allegedly be charged wirelessly due to its rechargeable battery. Another speculation is that the tablet will use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 635 processor instead of an Intel Kaby Lake chip.

Meanwhile, Tech Radar lists down the features that it would like to see in the new Surface Pro 5. According to the website, Microsoft will do well to address the problems encountered by users with their Surface Pro 4. A long battery life with Surface Pro 5 will come a long way. The latest version is said to be only good for less than six hours of local video playback. If the Surface Pro 5 will be equipped with a 4k display, a bigger and sharper screen than the Surface Pro 4's 12.3-inch screen will reportedly be better.
