Microsoft Windows 10 Spartan Browser News, Details: Leaked Images Revealed Minimalistic Interface With More Functionality

Previous reports indicated that Microsoft is currently working on a new generation web browser, codenamed "Spartan," which is slated to accompany the public launching of its upcoming Windows 10.

Confirmed by several tech sites, Spartan is not Internet Explorer 12, which was rumored to be the next iteration of PC's stock browser.

Insiders familiar with the plans of the Redmond, Washington-based tech giant have told The Verge that the browser will be packed with "a host of new features not found in rival browsers."

To mention one detail, Spartan will have the "new inking support" which, as reported, will allow Windows 10 users to make notes directly into the web page using a stylus and then share them with other users.

The purported web note service will be powered by Microsoft's OneDrive cloud storage. This means that users of the new operating system have the ability to access, edit, and share the copy of an annotated web page through various browsers across multiple platforms.

The second largest innovation that Windows fans should expect is the integration of Microsoft's Cortana. As stated, the company is planning to include the digital assistant which will allow users to conveniently gather information like flight status, hotel bookings, package tracking and other essential data through Spartan's address bar.

Meanwhile, IGN.com reported that images of the new browser were purportedly leaked by a Chinese tech site CNBETA which shows a streamlined, minimalistic interface.

The site went on to add that the purpose for Spartan's design is geared more towards browser tab functionality. They said that users will now be able to group tabs based on their preferences.

IGN said furthermore that official information about Windows 10's Spartan browser will be found out more during the Microsoft Windows 10 press event, which will take place Jan. 21.
