'Modern Family' season 7 spoilers & update: Mitchell is unemployed, Dunphy children goes through life issues

'Modern Family' is returning to everyone's televisions for its seventh installment, which means it's time to laugh out loud again. After what seemed like a long hiatus, the Dunphys and the Pritchetts are coming back bringing along with them a combination of family drama and comedy as they continue on with their lives.

Last season, everyone saw how Mitchell Pritchett (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) lost his job. Cameron Tucker (Eric Stonestreet) thought he was having an affair but was relieved to know that it was only an unemployment issue. But come Season 7, Mitchell's out-of-job life will have an effect on their relationship, reports International Business Times. The former lawyer has always been known by fans to be a little uptight and mild-mannered.

He has been so accustomed to be the one providing for the family especially for their adopted daughter, Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons), that his being unemployed is making him go "crazy." With a lot of free time in his hands, he tries hobbies that are out of his comfort zone like coaching Lily's soccer team, something that he has absolutely no idea on what to do. The role reversal will also build up tension between the couple but Cameron, being his flamboyant self, remains supportive of Mitchell.

Aside from the Pritchett-Tucker drama, the Dunphy family will also be a whirlwind, sort of. According to Youth Health, Phil (Ty Burell) and Claire (Julie Bowen) Dunphy will be dealing with parent-related struggles. Apparently, changes are happening to their kids and the duo is doing everything they can to help them, starting with their eldest, Haley (Sarah Hyland), who had always been the "gruff teenager."

Season 6 left Haley in a relationship dilemma after learning that she and Andy Bailey (Adam DeVine) have mutual feelings. But China Topix spilled that Andy will be proposing to his girlfriend Beth. Hayley, along with Claire, spied on the proposal. But will Hayley stop Andy? Will she be successful in jeopardizing the couple's relationship or is she going to end up broken hearted?

Meanwhile, Alex (Ariel Winter) has graduated high school and is now ready to set foot in college. But her parents are worried about her leaving home, thinking she might have a difficult time. The thought of her meeting a university guy also worries them. The youngest child, Luke (Nolan Gould), will also be facing his own teenage crisis. According to the source, Phil and Claire are struggling in raising their only son. He has developed a "criminal streak" but it may only be just a teenage phase that will pass.

More will be unveiled soon when "Modern Family" returns on Sept. 23.
