'Mortal Kombat X' Next Patch to See 'Huge' Online Play Improvement on PC

In addition to the already reported DLC, NetherRealm Studios said that it will release performance updates for its hit fighting game title, "Mortal Kombat X."

The game, which was released on April 14, 2015, is said to see fixes for some of the issues related to its online play mode as well as offer "huge improvements" for the game's PC version.

A report from Polygon cited a livestream interview this week featuring Mortal Kombat's co-creator Ed Boon.

According to Boon, the studio is currently hard at work on continually improving the "networking code performance" for the mentioned game. He further said that "there's no way we consider ourselves content" with how the game currently runs online.

"We are constantly working on the online, [that] back and forth," he said. "We've taken steps to improve on it. It's certainly better than where we were at launch, but by no means do we feel like we're at where we want or need to be."

One of the improvements, as detailed out by the publication, is the ability for players to "back out of an online match" if the two don't have a good connection.

With this feature, they can now set a "connection threshold" which gives them the option to "search for a new opponent" with a better connection.

Boon went on to point out the team's plan to bring the update which will "dramatically speed up the time" to load the living towers, fraction page, and leaderboards for the PlayStation 4 version of the game.

Aside from the online connection problems, the upcoming patches will also see some fixes for PC as the said version has reportedly been plagued with issues since launch. Boon indicated that the said platform will soon get some "huge improvements" that will "literally bring the PC version to parity with the console versions."

It is still not known yet as to when the said updates will roll out.
