Whiterose Challenges Angela's Loyalty to Dark Army in 'Mr. Robot' Season 3

Whiterose (BD Wong) will test Angela's (Portia Doubleday) loyalty to the cause and to the Dark Army in the upcoming season of "Mr. Robot."

According to Independent, Wong has been promoted as a series regular in the show, which means his character - the transgender Chinese leader of the Dark Army - will appear more often. During the last season, Angela was revealed to be part of the mysterious organization after a closed door meeting with Whiterose. Angela knew that Tyrell (Martin Wallstrom) kidnapped Elliot (Rami Malek) and shot him when the latter said he had no intention of joining the cause. With Whiterose to become more visible, the fans will see how she will keep an eye on Angela. There is no way Whiterose will let her back out on her promise.

For many viewers, Angela's betrayal came as a shock since she is Elliot's childhood friend. Time and again, she proved that her loyalty remains with Elliot, even if they do not see things eye-to-eye most of the time.

In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly, series creator Sam Esmail hinted that Angela's abrupt change may have something to do with the Washington Township plant mentioned in the finale. According to him, Angela's motivations and her secret meeting with Whiterose would slowly be revealed in the new installment.

"What did she tell Angela to convince her of that? Obviously — and I'll say this right now, on the record — those questions will be answered in due time. Not every episode can answer every question, but those are the big, overarching mysteries of the show. The White Rose and plant of it all is something that harkens back to the beginning of the series. I think it will always be looming throughout the series and as we go into the next season," Esmail teased, according to EW.

"Mr. Robot" season 3 will return this October on USA Network.
