'Nashville' Season 2 Spoilers: Who Will Rayna Choose in Highly Emotional, 'Messy' Finale?

"Nashville" returns to ABC one last time for the season two finale, "On the Other Hand," on Wednesday.

Although ABC has not yet renewed the musical drama television series, "Nashville" fans are anxiously anticipating the season closer which promises a highly emotional ride. Chris Carmack, who stars on the show, warned viewers that "On the Other Hand" will produce several tears.

"I was joking with Callie [Khouri], our creator, when we were shooting the finale, that our audience should probably just climb into a bathtub to watch it, because it's going to be a very wet episode," the actor told TVLine.

Carmack was likely referring to his sexually conflicted character Will who is in a sham marriage with Layla.

"The walls are closing in on Will, it's a lot to handle," he said of his character. "It's going to expose how much he's lying to himself, because the only reason he can keep up this lie is because he has these moments where he can explode, and then come back [to normal]. When you realize when the cameras are on you is, if you explode, that's what they're going to show."

As for Will's marriage to Layla, Carmack adds, "I would say the honeymoon is over."

As for Rayna, the fading country music star on "Nashville" is reconnecting with her former lover Deacon with whom she shares daughter Maddie. Charles Esten, who portrays Deacon, explained that their daughter will play in reuniting the characters.

"The interesting thing about is it that [Deacon and Maddie's father-daughter relationship] doesn't take away from Rayna; it connects him more deeply to Rayna than ever," the actor told TVLine. "We are [Maddie's] parents. There's a bond from the word go between Deacon and Rayna, and now there's a physical manifestation of that bond, this beautiful, talented girl."

To that end, Will Chase, who portrays Rayna's boyfriend Luke, adds that the finale will be "messy," possibly hinting at the Luke-Rayna-Deacon love triangle.

"[The scenes in the finale are] the most fun to watch … [People] want things to be messy, because things are messy," Chase told TVLine with a grin. "You want that kind of messiness here."

"Nashville" will air on ABC at 10 p.m. EST. The synopsis for "On the Other Hand" is as follows: "In the second-season finale, Teddy helps Rayna plan a free concert to spotlight her Highway 65 debut. Meanwhile, Deacon's pals perform at a benefit concert for his favorite charity; and Juliette goes missing when Avery prepares to serenade her."
