Panettiere stayed mum throughout much of her pregnancy, which was even written into the latest season of "Nashville." But in August while walking the red carpet at the Emmy's, she confirmed the gender of her baby.

"I want to go shopping, I want to paint the room," she enthused after letting the information slip.

In November, the former "Heroes" star told Hello that she was excited about having a daughter.

"I'm thrilled that I am having a girl first because I feel like I know a lot about raising a strong woman," she said.

The actress also discussed how she expected to gain a little weight when she got pregnant, but did not realize how much she would actually put on.

"I'm five feet, two inches, and I started out at 106 pounds and guess how much I weigh now? Around 145 pounds. And the worst part is that my feet are still size five and they're going, 'What's going on with all this weight?' They're about to snap from underneath me with the strain."

Panettiere and the 38-year old heavyweight boxing world champion dated in 2009 before splitting in May 2011, but they rekindled their romance in April 2013. Panettiere confirmed wedding rumors on the "Live with Kelly and Michael" show on October 2013.

Of their engagement, the actress told the April/May issue of Brides, "It wasn't about being overwhelmed by fireworks or a mariachi band. I think it's amazing when people do that, but I like that mine was simple and from the heart."
