'NBA 2K18' Rumors: Could Sept. 19 Be the Exact Release Date of New Game?

'NBA 2K18' also coming to the Nintendo Switch

"NBA 2K18" will be the next installment of the long-running "NBA 2K" basketball video game franchise, and fans can expect to get their hands on it later this year.

Unsurprisingly, though, an exact date for when this new game will be released has not been announced just yet, but there are clues available that could be hinting at when this title will be in stores.

For instance, developers have already confirmed a release month for the game.

In a post on Nintendo's official website, it is revealed that "NBA 2K18" will be released for the Switch in September.

It is likely that this release window also applies for the other versions of the game, but still, it is not an exact date.

Looking back into the history of this game franchise does reveal some interesting patterns, however, and they could be related to when basketball fans will be able to try out this upcoming title.

For example, release dates for "NBA 2K" games have gotten earlier in recent years.

"NBA 2K15" came out on Oct. 7, while the follow-up to that, "NBA 2K16," was officially released on Sept. 29.

As for last year's installment, "NBA 2K17," that game came out more than a week earlier than its predecessor since it hit stores on Sept. 20.

It is also worth noting that those aforementioned dates are all Tuesdays.

Checking the calendar for this year, it appears that Sept. 19 could be the exact date of arrival for the new game if developers again want to move the release date up while also making sure that it falls on a Tuesday.

At this point, while a release window has already been announced for "NBA 2K18," additional details regarding what new features it could offer have not been revealed just yet, though those bits of information should be made available soon enough.
