NBA Trade Rumors for 2016-17 Season: DeMarcus Cousins to Leave Sacramento Kings in 2018, Lance Stephenson to Brooklyn Nets, Nerlens Noel to Houston Rockets

As the 2016-17 NBA regular season draws near, fans are already anticipating a boring season; one that is dominated by one or two teams. Truth be told, we will probably see a rematch between the Cavaliers and the Warriors during the 2017 NBA Finals, but anything can happen.

With this idea of a super team, a lot of NBA rumors are centered on drastic changes that would make the league season more competitive. Here are some of these rumors.

According to CBS Sports, DeMarcus Cousins will most likely leave the Sacramento Kings in 2018 when he becomes a free agent. The good news for the Kings management is that Cousins is an expensive player and other teams may have a hard time fulfilling his contract demands. Then again, the high-scoring Olympian center may say it's not all about the money.

Cousins averaged 26.9 points, 1.4 blocks and 11.5 rebounds per game last season. But aside from that, he also holds the number 1 spot in most number of technical fouls last season with 17. He has a hard time controlling his emotions when referees call fouls against him.

With this in mind, and other problems in the Kings roster, the organization hired head coach David Joerger to fix the system and make Cousins trust in it again. The ultimate goal is for Joerger to make Cousins re-sign with the Kings in 2018.

2. Lance Stephenson to Brooklyn Nets

Rumors are also circling around that former Indiana Pacers star Lance Stephenson will sign with the Brooklyn Nets. Stephenson played for the Memphis Grizzlies last season. Despite having a sort of resurgence with good stats, 14.2 points per game with a field goal percentage of 47.4, the Grizzlies chose not to re-sign Stephenson.

The Minnesota Timberwolves, New York Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets are said to be interested in signing the free agent.

If the Nets can acquire Lance Stephenson, then they will get the necessary upgrade they need on the shooting guard position. Stephenson will work well with Jeremy Lin, who is tasked to do more of a point guard role and not a combo guard by the new head coach, Kenny Atkinson.

3. Nerlens Noel to Houston Rockets

A three-way trade is brewing in the rumor mill. This involves the Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns and the Houston Rockets.

According to the rumor, Nerlens Noel will be sent to the Houston Rockets, Brandon Knight will go to the Philadelphia 76ers and the Phoenix Suns will receive 2 draft picks this season.

Getting Nerlens Noel, James Harden and Patrick Beverley in one team will make the Rockets a formidable team. However, they aren't likely to beat the Golden State Warriors in the 2016-17 NBA regular season. But with the foundation of this team set, the Rockets can try to get a solid wing man in the next off-season to eventually give the Warriors a run for their money.
