'NCIS' Season 13 Cast News Episode 9 Spoilers: Cote De Pablo and Michael Weatherly Spotted Together; Team Come to Aid of Petty Officer

Probably one of the most popular speculations about the CBS' hit police-procedural drama TV series "NCIS" points out to the possibility of Cote De Pablo's fan-favorite character, Ziva David, returning to the show.

The latest reports did give some glimmer of hope that perhaps De Pablo will be reprising her role. Unfortunately, the rumors didn't turn out to be what was expected.

A report from HNGN.com cited the recent social media update by the "NCIS" director, Dennis Smith. The helmer, in his Twitter account, shared a photo of him alongside the 36-year-old and the latter's on-screen love interest and current cast member, Michael Weatherly.

Weatherly, who plays the character Tony DiNozzo, reportedly retweeted Smith's post and captioned it with: "Ok so how much fun did I have last night?"

The rumors of Ziva's return sparked when Weatherly, during an interview, dropped off a hint indicating that later this year, there will be some guest stars coming over. And these individuals "will melt the avid NCIS viewer's brain," he said.

This is on top of what executive producer Gary Glasberg said to TVGuide wherein he confirms "some surprise appearances of people from our 'NCIS' past." However, Ziva won't be making it to the list.

While these casting hopes are yet to be realized, the upcoming episode of the series titled "Day in Court," is promised to be an intense one.

According to Carter Matt, the squad will come across a petty officer who volunteers himself to be court martialed in hopes that his name will be cleared. The catch, however, is that the NCIS team should agree to conduct an investigation concerning his murder case that got dismissed due to a "mishandled warrant."

The trailer reveals that Tony and McGee (Sean Murray) are caught surprised with the man's move. Gibbs (Mark Harmon) then confronted the officer, telling him that the last thing he wants is to be played at.
