'NCIS' Season 14 Spoilers and News: Gibbs Finds No One Good Enough to Replace DiNozzo; He Gets Himself a New Roommate in Upcoming Season

Gibbs has Fornell as roommate while he recovers from his injuries.

Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs has been involved in some intense storylines on NCIS. Just last season, he got shot by a child terrorist and had a painful recovery process as a result. In the upcoming NCIS Season 14, however, Gibbs will have fun as he is going to be in a lighthearted storyline for a change.

New roommates

In NCIS Season 14, Gibbs (Mark Harmon) will have a new roommate in FBI Special Agent Tobias C. Fornell (Joe Spano). He was shot by a rogue agent in last season's finale. Fornell will be living with Gibbs while he recuperates from his gunshot wounds.

EP Gary Glasberg playfully cautioned viewers to be prepared because the two of them living together will be something wonderful, light and funny. Fans of the long-running procedural series know very well the kind of relationship Gibbs shares with Fornell. While they are both excellent agents and a good friend to one another, they also know very well how to get in each other's nerves.

Long road to recovery

Seriously though, Fornell is facing a long road to recovery. Glasberg said that the character will have a more realistic approach to his recovery than other injured TV characters who seem to recover instantly. In Fornell's case, he will be made to face the mammoth hurdles of suffering severe trauma and rehab.

The showrunner said both he and Spano discussed their approach to Fornell's situation and are now both excited to watch him in NCIS Season 14. Glasberg complimented Spano for being a truly gifted actor.

No one good enough

Meanwhile, even as Gibbs will be busy with his new roommate, at work, he will be just as busy finding a replacement for Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly). In the NCIS Season 14 premiere, Gibbs keeps on rejecting the candidates sent to him by Special Agent Alex Quinn (Jennifer Esposito).

New members of NCIS Team

Gibbs will get a visit from perhaps an already exasperated Quinn, who wants to know why no other agent seems to be good enough for the job for Gibbs. NCIS Season 14 spoilers reveal that Quinn herself, will end up joining Gibbs' NCIS team.

Meanwhile, undercover agent Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) gets involved in a new case the NCIS is working on. Like Quinn, Torres will also join the team by the end of the NCIS Season 14 premiere.

Later in the season, MI6 Officer Clayton Reeves (Duane Henry) will also be added to the team. He helped Gibbs in catching the rogue agent in the previous season.

NCIS Season 14 will have its premiere on September 20 on CBS.
